Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of the day. How you start your day is so important. Check out the top 5 ways to start your day more energized.

1. Wake Up Earlier

Yep, you read that right! Believe it or not, waking up earlier allows you to be more focused and productive. Most people are not waking up at 5 am to do anything so that is more reason to have time to yourself without any distractions.

Tip: You will need to go to sleep earlier the night before to ensure you get the adequate amount of hours of sleep. The amount of tasks you check off your to-do list between 5-7 am will give you a great sense of accomplishment and productivity for the day.

2. Drink Water

Drinking water first thing in the morning allows your body to hydrate and feel refreshed. You will feel more alert and you can get creative with your water if you don’t want to stick to that basic glass of water.

Tip: Add lemon , strawberry & mint, or even cucumbers to your water to add some flavor to boring water.

3. Get Moving

Whether you are practicing yoga, going for a walk, or attending a boot camp, by simply choosing to get the blood circulating, will allow you to be more alert, focused, and optimistic. After working out in the morning, studies have shown that people tend to make healthier choices the rest of the day.

Tip: Choose an activity that you look forward to and that will wake up your senses so you are more likely to be motivated to attend. If yoga will put you back to sleep first thing in the morning, opt for a workout that is more intense, such as a spin class or go for a jog outside. If you want a quick jolt of energy, turn on your favorite song and get to dancing!

4. Positive Talk

Positive affirmations literally change your mindset . They allow you to release stress, gain confidence, and have an overall calmness. Not only should you write them down, but you should repeat them out loud. Feeling more confident, allows you to be more energized and positive for the remainder of your day because you are starting off optimistic.

5. Prioritize the To-Do List

Creating the To-Do list the night before is ideal but reviewing and prioritizing it first thing in the morning is important. Prioritizing your to-do list should be based off of your most productive time of the day. If you know you focus best in the afternoon, you will want to put the more challenging tasks during that time and leave the easier to tackle task to the times where your brain does not want to work quite as hard. Organizing your tasks for the day will allow you to feel more efficient with your time and again a sense of accomplishment as you check the items off throughout the day.

Tip: Many people want to be able to knock off the simple tasks first thing in the morning so they can attack the heavier items throughout the rest of the day. You have to know when you work best throughout the day and organize it accordingly. For most, this will not take more than 5-10 minutes but you will feel prepared and energized for the day.
